Introduction

In this section, some rather tentative proposals for requirements analysis for LE are made. The proposals are illustrated using the example of spelling checkers, drawing on work from the LRE project TEMAA (cf. section TEMAA -- A testbed study of evaluation methodologies). (In the next section, the same domain is used to illustrate the potential for reuse and adaptation of pre-existing requirements definitions by comparison with the Writers' Aids work on grammar checkers (Appendix Evaluation of Writers' Aids).)
